Polar Night
The polar night starts here in Hetta Enontekiö around December 7 and ends on January 6. The polar night means that the Sun doesn't rise at all. However, it doesn't mean that is is dark all the time. There is a few hours of daylight during the day, around 10 am. to 2 pm and that is about time of amazing pastel colors. Pastel colors are also visible before the start of the polar night and for some time after. There is snow on the trees most of the time in midwinter, when nature turns into a winter wonderland. All this makes midwinter such a beautiful time. After the Polar Night ends, the beauty of midwinter still continues. It is also time when you need to be prepared for cold weather and for short daylight hours.
In midwinter it gets dark early, so it is also possible to see the Northern Lights earlier in the evening. Because our location fat North, it is likely to see the Northern Lights when the sky is clear and there is not any light pollution around the glamping.
Explore the wilderness of Lapland with a local guide on snowmobile safari away from the beaten paths. We will take a sleigh ride pulled by a snowmobile to the wilderness for the Northern Lights. You will discover more about our local culture and enjoy local delicacies in our traditional hut laavu during our Northern Lights tour. Experience the beauty and the silence of the nature during the horse sleigh ride.
